Having spent the last two school years with our AMA Yorba Linda Preschool as one o four lead Pre-Kindergarten teachers, we are thrilled to welcome Mr. Ferruzca to the Elementary team! Prior to his time at AmeriMont, Mr. Ferruzca was a lead Kindergarten teacher for five years, as well as an Assistant Preschool Director. He holds a degree in Illustration and Design from Brooks College and is also accredited as an Early Childhood Educator with training in the Montessori system. When he is not in the classroom Mr. Ferruzca likes to display his artwork and go to Disneyland. Mr. Ferruzca will be instructing all AMA Elementary students in Spanish as well.

Mrs. Hodkinson graduated from California Baptist University with her Bachelors degree in Health Science. Additionally, Mrs. Hodkinson graduated with a Masters degree in Education, and a Multiple Subject credential from Pepperdine University. She has been in the field since 2016, teaching 1st grade, 6th grade and prior to that substitute teaching for Kindergarten through 5th grade. She is extremely excited to be teaching Kindergarten this school year! When Mrs. Hodkinson has some free time she enjoys going to the dog beach/park, going to country concerts, hanging out with loved ones, fishing, bowling, and trying new eateries with her husband. Mrs. Hodkinson will be instructing all AMA Elementary students in Art as well.

Miss Dayton graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Liberal Studies. She obtained her teaching credentials and Masters in Education from Redlands University. She is passionate about integrating STEM into her classroom and wants every student to experience a hands on learning environment. Having worked in education since 2015, she has been a long-term substitute teacher in 1st and 4th grade, an on-call substitute for grades K-5, as well as an ESY Summer School Teacher for grades TK-1st. Miss Dayton has many hobbies outside the classroom. She enjoys water skiing, traveling the world and watching football. She is thrilled to join the AMA team! Miss Dayton will be instructing all AMA Elementary students in STEM as well.
First Grade Teacher Ms. Katie Carnahan

Ms. Carnahan has been teaching since 2003 and has taught all grade levels, Preschool through High School. She graduated from the University of Redlands with her degree in Vocal Performance, as well as her single subject credential in English. Ms. Carnahan received her multiple subject teaching credential from Biola University. One of Ms. Carnahan’s major focuses in the classroom is building students’ academic vocabulary and grammar to improve their reading and writing skills. When she isn’t teaching, Miss Carnahan enjoys spending time with her family and serving at her church. She is a lover of classic Hollywood glamour and watching black and white films. She is a big fan of amusement parks as well! Ms. Carnahan will be instructing all AMA Elementary Students in music as well.
Private Elementary School Mrs. Ma

Chinese Instructor
Mrs. Ma is bilingual and a native Mandarin speaker who is passionate about teaching and making language development fun and interactive. Prior to becoming a teacher and a mother, Mrs. Ma worked as a certified public accountant at a global public accounting firm and was a teaching assistant at the college level. She earned her B.S. degree in finance from Wuhan University in China and Master’s degrees in accounting, economics, and statistics from the University of New Mexico. Outside of teaching, she enjoys spending time with family, taking recreational martial arts classes, and ice skating.

Miss Sharon has been teaching in Montessori preschools for over 20 years. Working with young children brings her immense joy, especially watching them reach milestones and guiding them in their informative years. Miss Sharon’s hobbies include reading, art, and collecting miniature teapots. She has a passion for music-performing and teaching and her favorite colors are green and purple.
Substitute Teacher Mrs. Caren Ryan

We are thrilled to continue working with Mrs. Ryan for the 2019/2020 school year. She was such a wonderful substitute last year and the children truly enjoyed their time with her when she’d step into their classrooms. Having over twenty years in the field, Mrs. Ryan has taught all grades Kindergarten through High School, both as a classroom teacher and substitute teacher. She received her degree in Fiber Arts from California State University Fullerton, and her multiple subject teaching credential from the University of Phoenix. When Mrs. Ryan isn’t substitute teaching, she enjoys quilting and spending time with her family.
